PricePally, Nigeria’s foremost online grocery marketplace, held the first-ever PricePally Impact Summit in Lagos on May 22nd and 23rd, 2025. This milestone two-day event assembled major stakeholders across Nigeria’s food value chain to confront one of the nation’s most urgent issues: food accessibility. Under the theme “From Farm to Table: The Future of Fresh Foods – Sustainable, Affordable, and Accessible,” the summit brought together farmers, government officials, agritech disruptors, investors, food business owners, and distributors for deep-dive discussions, idea exchange, and recognition of impact at the grassroots level.
Held at the High Point Event Centre, the summit kicked off with a warm welcome from PricePally COO, Jummai Abalaka, followed by a keynote speech by Dr. Rufus Idris, Country Director at AGRA Nigeria, underscoring the power of data and system-wide coordination to achieve sustainable food futures. Hon. Abisola Olusanya, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, and the Distinguished Speaker for the event, called for grassroots-oriented solutions to long-standing agricultural challenges. The CEO of PricePally, Luther Lawyoin, highlighted the role of data in shaping decisions in agriculture and the need for data integration across board.

The first day featured high-impact panel discussions and fireside chats, beginning with a panel session on sustainable food systems moderated by Corporate Farmers International founder Akin Alabi. Panelists examined how Nigeria can achieve a balance between affordability, accessibility, and nutritional quality in the food system. Thought leaders like Maureen Unogu, Samson Ogbole, and Continental Adetiloye emphasized the urgent need to rethink logistics, invest in climate-smart solutions, and empower farmers with the tools to reduce post-harvest loss. “We don’t have a food production problem,” Adetiloye noted, “we have a food distribution problem.”
Speakers also underscored the critical role of women and youth in driving agricultural innovation. Maureen Unogu discussed how her organization is integrating Northern women into its workflow through call center participation, while Ogbole emphasized the importance of managing biotic and abiotic factors in farming using urban-adapted techniques such as soilless cultivation.
The second panel discussion, moderated by Glory James Ene, explored innovation throughout the agricultural value chain. Panelists Michael Ogundare, Michael Adetutu, Tracy Dabul, and Femi Adekoya shared how their organizations are deploying drone technologies, solar-powered cold storage, and scalable export processing systems to enhance food access and bolster farmer resilience. A key takeaway from this dialogue was a strong appeal to the Ministry of Agriculture—and other pertinent actors—to eliminate funding roadblocks and invest in critical agro-infrastructure, especially transport systems that shorten the distance between rural farms and city tables.
Building on the thread of collaboration, the fireside chat highlighted the importance of partnerships between government, private institutions, and development partners. Vera Iheanacho and Adesina Adewumi shared how organizations are creating more flexible, inclusive financing models for women farmers, including trust-based systems and non-traditional collateral options. The conversation concluded with an outlook on Nigeria’s agro-economy—emphasizing digital transformation, decentralization of food hubs, and the role of blockchain in shaping the next chapter of agricultural financing.

The consistent theme during the sessions? The need to shift the perception of farming from subsistence to sustainable wealth generation. As Femi Adekoya put it, “Farming should no longer be a poverty management strategy but a wealth creation strategy.”
Beyond the insightful conversations, attendees were treated to an experience that reflected PricePally’s values—quality, community, and celebration. Day one included a curated lunch featuring jollof rice and assortments, while day two featured a multi-course culinary showcase beginning with sweetened corn, coconut, and pears, followed by roasted plantain and fish, and closing with suya and chips.

The second day of the summit was dedicated to recognizing and honoring those driving impact across the food chain. PricePally celebrated liaison officers, standout farmers, food business owners, and B2B partners for their contributions to the ecosystem. Special guests, including renowned culinary voice and convener of the Nigeria Food Summit Chef Gibbs, GSMA Innovation Fund manager Edward Abira, CEO Niche Capital Rasheed Olaoluwa, and Founder, Premier BN, Bola Lawal joined the celebration, underscoring the fusion of food advocacy and culture. News outlet, Arise TV, covered the opening day of the event, amplifying the summit’s core message: that the future of food in Nigeria depends on shared responsibility, practical innovation, and bold, coordinated action. Leading tech platform, Tech Cabal, was also present to document proceedings.
As the curtains drew on the PricePally Impact Summit 2025, it was clear that this was more than a conference—it was a movement. One that promises to redefine the journey from farm to table, making it shorter, smarter, and more inclusive for every Nigerian.
